Gitesi Coffee
Dynamic Family Enterprise Committed to Excellence
Located in Karongi District of the Western Province of Rwanda, Gitesi Coffee Washing Station Ltd (“GCWS LTD”) is a family-owned enterprise founded by Alexis GAHIZI in 2010. Alexis himself has been involved in coffee farming for 18years , with a passion for producing high-quality beans.
Alexis was born in a coffee farming family, but due to the country's history he left and lived for several years outside Rwanda. He came back with all his family) in 1994 after the genocide against the Tutsi.
Once back in Rwanda, Alexis wanted to go back to his family’s root in coffee. With the goal of creating jobs and rebuilding his community, Alexis started the coffee business in 2005 during the third year of his retirement by planting the first coffee farm.
Ensuring the family legacy
After completing his university studies graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and gaining professional experience, Aimé, son of Alexis, who is very interested and enthusiastic about the family coffee business, joined the family enterprise and is now the managing director.
“Like any business, we have faced challenges along the way, including fluctuating market prices, difficulties raising capital, high bank interest rates, and weather conditions that can impact the quality and quantity of our harvest. However, we have persevered and remain dedicated to producing the best coffee possible”, Aimé said and continued “We have full control over the entire process from farming to roasting.
We take great pride in our commitment to excellence”.
